The CR8000 Bar Code Reader (CR8000) is intended for embedded applications. It features a high quality imaging and decoding platform the meets the growing space requirements without compromising the performance of bar code reading.

Code Corporation and Aptina started working together on the new product in the summer of 2009. Garrett Russell, the vice president of marketing for Code Corporation, said that they had very strict product requirements. The Aptina MT9M033 was the obvious choice in meeting the requirements of their product roadmap for the coming five to seven years. Code Corporation's products have numerous key differentiators that provide the company with great competitive advantage in the marketplace. By choosing Aptina's MT9M033, Code Corporation has also chosen a partner that provides them with the base platform to constantly push bar code scanning performance to the next level.

The sensor from Aptina can be incorporated with a rolling shutter or a global shutter. Code Corporation has chosen the rolling shutter initially for the CR8000 Bar Code Reader. It has pin for pin compatibility so Code Corporation can incorporate the global shutter version easily for added applications with unique bar code scanning requirements.

The MT9M033 HD megapixel image sensor is created with Aptina Dual Conversion Gain (DCG) and high speed capture technology. It provides tremendous low light sensitivity and 60 fps high speed capture for bar code reading function.

David Zimpfer, the vice president and general manager of the Automotive & Industrial Business Unit at Aptina, noted that the speed, performance and HD resolution are important factors in the success of scan reader devices.

Aptina is keyed up that Code Corporation is implementing the MT9M003 and optimizing the sensor capabilities in their most recent CR8000 Bar Code Reader. Aptina is dedicated in building and providing their customers with distinct imaging solutions such as the MT9M033.
