Advanced Telecom Services, a premier provider of interactive voice response services, mobile data content, and mobile marketing solutions, is well placed to provide QR codes with a difference with the help of its new QR code service.

The ability to provide custom QR codes that incorporates brand logos and graphics makes it more meaningful and representative of the company and are found to be more popular with customers, who view this as a break from the monotonous ‘black and white’ lines that QR codes are normally associated with.

In a press release, Bob Bentz, president of Advanced Telecom Services, highlighted this point and said,

“One of the raps against QR codes has been that it is nothing more than a square box of squiggly black and white lines that don’t represent one brand over another, Custom QR codes are able to enhance the look and feel of the customer interaction.”

Bentz said that companies had of late, resorted to using the custom made QR codes because of their unique design. They have been exploiting their mobile websites to optimize them for the smaller screens of mobile phones.

Frank Mazza, lead designer for Advanced Telecom Services’ QR code division emphasized the significance of such a move and said, “It is important to look like your brand from the outside and the inside, a custom QR code does just that.”

QR codes were invented by Denso-Ware, a subsidiary of Toyota, in 1994, in order to track vehicle parts for a manufacturing unit in Japan. Although quite popular in Japan and Korea, they are currently creating quite a stir in the United States and Canada. In fact, QR codes are being used in Canada to speed up the processing of new passports.

In other news, Advanced Telecom Services recently announced its 2011 participating carriers for its 84444.com text message marketing product. 84444.com is a do-it-yourself text message marketing product that allows businesses, organizations, and entrepreneurs to launch interactive and broadcast mobile marketing products to its members, customers and prospects. The text messaging site is regarded as one of the most user-friendly shared short code solutions in the mobile marketing industry today. In addition to providing basic interactive and broadcast text message marketing solutions, 84444.com also has special enhancements for text message voting, mobile coupons, and mobile sweepstakes.

U.S. retail sales rose just 0.1 percent between June and July, according to MasterCard Advisors' SpendingPulse. If you don't include spending on vehicles, sales fell 0.9 percent, according to the firm. This follows a 0.5 percent decrease from May to June and a 2.1 percent drop from April to May.
